Before You Buy
What is AlfaOBD?
AlfaOBD is diagnostic software for Stellantis (formerly FCA) vehicles. It goes well beyond a basic code reader: it can read and clear faults from individual modules, show live data, and run service procedures and configuration options on supported vehicles. You pair it with a compatible OBD adapter plugged into the car.
Which vehicles does AlfaOBD support?
It covers Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia, Dodge, Ram, Chrysler and Jeep, plus the Peugeot Boxer and Citroën Jumper. Available functions depend on model, year and adapter. Check the official Supported Vehicles list for your exact vehicle. Not sure? Email info@weekndgarage.com before buying.
Does AlfaOBD work on iPhone or iPad?
No. AlfaOBD runs only on Android and Windows. An app called “Alfa OBD2” on the Apple App Store is a different product and is not related to AlfaOBD. iPhone owners usually run AlfaOBD on an inexpensive Android phone or tablet, or on a Windows laptop.
Does AlfaOBD work on Windows and Android?
Yes. It supports Android 4.0.3 and newer and Windows XP through 11. Both versions offer the same functions, so choose whichever device is more convenient in your garage.
Is AlfaOBD a one-time purchase or a subscription?
It’s a one-time purchase with no time limit, and future updates are included.
Can I use AlfaOBD on multiple vehicles?
Yes. One license can be used on multiple vehicles because it isn’t locked to a specific VIN.
How much does AlfaOBD cost?
AlfaOBD is a one-time purchase with no subscription and no VIN lock, and future updates are included. Current pricing is always shown on the product pages: AlfaOBD for Android and AlfaOBD for Windows. Your license is delivered by email, and our written tutorial or Android activation video walks you through setup.
Is AlfaOBD free?
There is a free AlfaOBD demo for Android. It has no expiration, but each session is limited to 15 minutes and it caps monitoring at four parameters. Active diagnostic procedures and configuration changes require the full license. The demo is a good way to confirm your adapter connects and to read data before you buy. The full version is a one-time license with future updates included.
How is AlfaOBD different from other apps?
AlfaOBD is a one-time license with no VIN lock, so one purchase works on multiple vehicles. It offers deep configuration options for Stellantis vehicles and is backed by a large owner community, with many written guides on Jeep and Ram forums and video tutorials on our YouTube channel.
Adapters and Hardware
Which OBD adapter should I use with AlfaOBD?
We recommend the WEEKNDGARAGE OBD II Reader. It works well with AlfaOBD, and our setup tutorials have been watched over 10 million times by owners using it on real vehicles. Other readers may work, but many cheap generic dongles do not function correctly with AlfaOBD. Buy the WEEKNDGARAGE OBD II Reader
Who makes the WEEKNDGARAGE OBD II Reader?
We design and manufacture it ourselves. Watch how it’s made and how it works with AlfaOBD:
In this video: how the WEEKNDGARAGE OBD II Reader is made from scratch
Is the WEEKNDGARAGE reader compatible with my vehicle?
Yes, for supported Stellantis vehicles up to model year 2024. Support for 2025 and newer is a work in progress, and we’ll announce it on our YouTube channel and email list when it’s ready. Not sure about your vehicle? Email info@weekndgarage.com before buying and we’ll tell you honestly what to expect.
Does AlfaOBD work on 2025 and newer vehicles?
Not yet. AlfaOBD currently works on vehicles up to model year 2024. Support for 2025 and newer is a work in progress, and we’ll announce it on our YouTube channel and email list when it’s ready.
Why won’t my ELM327 adapter connect to AlfaOBD?
Many generic ELM327 adapters work with apps like Torque but fail in AlfaOBD, because AlfaOBD needs features that cheap clones often lack. If yours won’t connect, close any other OBD apps, pair the adapter in your device’s Bluetooth settings, select the right adapter type in AlfaOBD, and test in the demo. If it still fails, the adapter is likely incompatible. That’s why we recommend our tested reader.
Is Bluetooth or WiFi better?
Bluetooth is recommended for its simplicity and reliability on Android and Windows, and it’s what most owners use. WiFi adapters can be harder to set up on Android and Windows, so check compatibility first. USB works on Windows and on Android devices that support USB OTG.
What are the colored adapters, and do I need one?
They’re small adapter cables that provide access to additional CAN buses on some vehicles. Not every feature needs one. AlfaOBD tells you when a function requires one, and the Supported Vehicles page lists requirements by model. Start without one and add it only if a function you want needs it.
Security Gateway (SGW)
What is the Security Gateway (SGW) on newer Jeeps, Rams and Chryslers?
Since about 2018, many Stellantis vehicles include a security gateway that restricts diagnostic tools from making changes. Reading data and codes generally works, but functions that write to modules, such as configuration changes, are blocked unless the gateway is handled correctly.
Do I need an SGW cable to use AlfaOBD on a 2018 or newer vehicle?
To write changes on vehicles equipped with the Security Gateway, which includes most 2018-2024 Jeep, Ram, Dodge and Chrysler models, you need an SGW cable. Reading codes and live data generally works without one. Buy the SGW Cable

Can I move my license to another phone or PC?
Yes. Licenses purchased from WEEKNDGARAGE can be transferred. Email info@weekndgarage.com with your order number or the email used for the order. Do I get updates?
Yes. Official licenses include future updates, and vehicle support expands with each version, so update before working on a newer model year.
Using AlfaOBD
How do I install and connect AlfaOBD for the first time?
Install the app, pair your adapter, plug it into the OBD port or SGW cable, turn the ignition on, then select the adapter type and your vehicle in AlfaOBD. Start with the demo to confirm the connection.

What can AlfaOBD do on a Jeep or Ram?
AlfaOBD can read and clear module faults, show live data, and change configuration options on supported vehicles. Common uses include:
Lighting
- Change daytime running light (DRL) behavior and location (high beams, low beams, turn signals or fog lamps)
- Keep fog lights on with the high beams
- Turn fog light dropout on or off
- Set LED bulb options
- Enable truck bed lighting and approach lights

- Climate control setup (such as single-zone changes)
- Chime and warning preferences
Diagnostics
- Read and clear faults from individual modules
- Live data and graphs
- Live actuations (testing components) on certain modules
- Save and restore a configuration backup before changes
What’s available depends on your model, year, and the modules in your vehicle. Some features need hardware installed first, such as a trailer brake controller or remote start, and changes on a vehicle with the Security Gateway require an SGW cable. AlfaOBD enables features by changing module settings. Always save a backup of your configuration first.
In this video: everything AlfaOBD can be used for in a vehicle.
Is it safe to change settings with AlfaOBD?
Yes, if you go carefully. Configuration changes are saved to your vehicle’s modules until you change them back, so write down the original value before changing anything and change one setting at a time. Don’t change items you don’t understand. We recommend a strong battery tender to keep system voltage above 12V, and don’t interrupt the connection while writing.
Can I use AlfaOBD on Ford, Toyota or other brands?
No. It’s built for Stellantis and FCA brands only.
